Hyderabad: After being elusive for four days by virtually throwing a challenge to Telangana police, serial chain snatcher Umesh Khatik, who committed five snatchings in just seven hours on Wednesday, was finally traced in Ahmedabad on Saturday.

However, Ahmedabad police left their Telangana counterparts disappointed by declaring Umesh’s arrest in one of the cases pending against him in Gujarat after allegedly taking alerts from Telangana police. A team of Telangana police -- both Hyderabad and Cyberabad cops — which went to Ahmedabad to nab Umesh are likely to come back without the offender.
