The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is expected to begin work on redesigning the roundabout and making it “citizen-friendly” by March-end. The civic body is likely to pick the contractor by February.
“The initiative, part of the Smart City project, aims to integrate various facilities to ensure the stretch matches up to global standards,” NDMC member Kuljeet Singh Chahal said, adding that once redeveloped, it will be an example of a “new India, new NDMC”.
Three stretches — the Mandi House roundabout, Kasturba Gandhi Marg and Barakhamba Road — were identified for major upliftment in last year’s budget. The plan was approved by the council recently.
