NGO Starts Free Ambulance Service For Needy

New Delhi: After discovering that people were being overcharged for ambulances, Delhi-based NGO Wishings and Blessings decided to launch a free ambulance service to help the needy, who did not have enough money to ferry their loved ones to a hospital. Simultaneously, the NGO has been distributing ration kits and medical essentials such as oximeters, masks and sanitisers to the underprivileged.

Cases Among Pregnant Women, New Moms Doubled In 2nd Wave: Study

New Delhi: Symptomatic cases of Covid-19 were significantly higher at 28.7% among pregnant and post-partum women during the second wave, compared with the first wave when the proportion was 14.2%, a comparative analysis of data during the two waves by ICMR showed. The case fatality rate among such women was also much higher during the second wave at 5.7%, against 0.7% in the first wave.
