New Delhi: Four days after South Delhi Municipal Corporation issued notices to 67 hawkers at Nehru Place to shift to a designated site near the Govindpuri metro station, nothing has changed on the ground. On Monday, TOI found it was business as usual for the hawkers, who continued to transact business at the market.
An SDMC official said the civic body had received legal notice in response to the vacation orders served on January 13. “An NGO and the umbrella organisation of vendors has served us notice claiming protection of the court and had referred to some court directions in 2009, 2011 and 2017. Our legal department is looking into it and by the next hearing on January 20, things will become clear,” said the official.
