Delhi Sees Less Than 10k Cases For First Time In Over A Month

Positivity Rate Falls To 12.4%, Deaths Still High. 289 deaths: Need to keep guard up

New Delhi: The capital saw the number of fresh Covid-19 cases dip below the 10,000mark after 34 days with 8,506 cases being recorded in the last 24 hours, with a positivity rate of 12.4% — the lowest since April 11. Friday is the second day in a row that the figure is below 15% and the fifth consecutive when it is below 20%. The number of Covid-19 fatalities, however, remained high at 289.

Though the steady dip in the number of new cases and positivity rate has come as a huge relief for the city, battling its fourth and deadliest wave of Covid-19 cases, Delhi’s health minister Satyendar Jain warned that it is no time to lower the guard.
