A HAUNTING image appearing to show children sheltering from Russian invaders sums up the horror of Putin's war on Ukraine.

They are said to be trapped in a tunnel under Mariupol's Azovstal steel plant - the last part of the battered city that is still controlled by Ukraine.

In heart-wrenching footage released by the Azov National Guard yesterday, women and children could be heard pleading to be evacuated after hiding in the tunnel for two months and running low on food and water.
