BRITISH Gas could lose millions of outraged customers over attempts to force staff to take new contracts with a “fire and rehire” policy.
The firm’s 20,000 workers have been told they could lose their jobs if they do not agree to new terms on less pay.
Chief executive Chris O’Shea is determined to drive through the scheme, which has led to a series of strikes – with more to come this week.
But 71 percent of people surveyed by the GMB union – including 400 who already use the energy giant – said they would be likely to go elsewhere.
The company supplies energy to more than 11 million homes in the UK.
