When children confess that they are “in a relationship”, it is easy for parents to imagine the worst and jump to conclusions.

Sometimes, younger children mimic what they see without understanding, and for them, “being in a relationship” means going to recess with the same person every day, says Ms Tan Joo Hymn, project director for the Birds and Bees programme at Association of Women for Action and Research.
