In a briefing at Malacañang yesterday, Philippine General Hospital (PGH) director Gerardo Gap Legaspi said the choice of Dr. Jonas del Rosario, PGH spokesman, to lead about 5,000 hospital staff in getting the vaccine is “symbolic in the fight against COVID-19.”
“He (Del Rosario) tested positive. Both of his parents also got infected and died of COVID-19. I think there is no better choice than Dr. Del Rosario,” Legaspi said.
Presidential spokesman Harry Roque Jr. agreed in the choice of Del Rosario as “the first to be legally vaccinated with the anti-COVID 19 vaccine” in the country.
The PGH director said that he, too, will join Del Rosario among the first medical frontliners to be inoculated to promote awareness among the public on the safety of the vaccine and to encourage them to take the jabs.
