The ruling PDP-Laban has expelled its vice chairman, Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, and two other party officials for “unauthorized and illegal acts” and disloyalty to the party.
The resolution expelling Cusi, party deputy secretary general Melvin Matibag who is president of the National Transmission Corp. and membership committee head Astra Naik was signed by Sen. Manny Pacquiao, PDP-Laban acting president.
Pacquiao has had a falling out with President Duterte over his comments on massive corruption in the administration. Reports said Cusi’s faction is moving to oust Pacquiao.
The expulsion of Cusi, Matibag and Naik was explained in one of the three party resolutions issued by Pacquiao and the PDP-Laban National Executive Committee (NEC), which constitutes the highest administrative and executive body of the party.
