A district court in Varanasi on Tuesday will decide which petition is to be heard first in the Gyanvapi mosque case transferred to it by the Supreme Court.
District Judge A K Vishvesh on Monday heard arguments from both the Hindu and Muslim sides.
The Muslim parties represented by Anjuman Intezamia Masajid (AIM) has challenged the maintainability of the suit seeking daily worship at Shringar Gauri Sthal, claiming that the Places of Worship Act, 1991, does not allow any petition in this connection as the Act protected the status of all religious structures as they stood on August 15, 1947.
