MAJOR political players in Uttar Pradesh, including the ruling BJP, Samajwadi Party, Congress and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), have welcomed the seven-phase schedule announced by the Election Commission (EC) for the upcoming Assembly polls in the state.
Significantly, in the wake of the unprecedented surge in Covid-19 cases, the EC has banned road shows, padyatra and physical rallies by political parties in the five poll-bound states till January 15.
While welcoming the poll schedule, UP CM Yogi Adityanath exuded confidence that his party would repeat its 2017 performance by winning 300 plus seats and would form the “double engine” government again in UP.
