CALL it the C-20 match of Uttarakhand, but 20 constituencies out of the total 70 in the state, 11 in Haridwar and nine in Udham Singh Nagar districts, are likely to decide which way the state swings in the ongoing elections.
When the BJP elevated Pushkar Singh Dhami as Uttarakhand CM and Madan Kaushik as the party chief in July last year, the party leadership had one thing in mind: Assembly polls in which Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts will play a decisive role.
While Dhami comes from Udham Singh Nagar and Kaushik from Haridwar.
If the BJP wants to retain power in the February polls, experts say, the party will need to repeat its performance of winning 16 out of 20 seats in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts or even better it.
