India Will Appeal Against Cairn Award: FM

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday indicated that the Centre will likely plead against an international arbitration tribunal decision that has directed India to return $1.4 billion to UK oil and gas firm Cairn Energy plc.

She said that while the BJp government is against retrospective tax, the government will certainly appeal in cases where the nation’s sovereign authority to tax is questioned.
