Talks between NR Congress and BJP seem to have gotten back on track after Union Home Minister Amit Shah intervened on Monday. N Rangasamy, chief of NR Congress, was reconsidering the alliance as the saffron party had hesitated to announce him as the alliance’s chief ministerial candidate.
On Monday Shah spoke to Rangasamy over the phone, after which senior NR Congress leaders went into a huddle at their party office in ECR for about an hour. Later, an NR Congress delegation met with BJP leaders including Nirmal Kumar Surana, who is election in-charge of party in Puducherry. Though what transpired at the meeting remains unknown, sources say they have made some headway. “The alliance has not yet been confirmed,” Surana said after the talks.
