Geologists on a cultural visit to Bhimbetka Rock Shelters may have stumbled upon a fossil imprint hiding among famous cave paintings
Iconic Fossil Overlooked In Bhimbetka?

NEW DELHI: Bhimbetka Rock Shelters in Madhya Pradesh display some of the earliest signs of human life on the Indian subcontinent — paintings more than 10,000 years old of people, animals, war, and mythical beasts can be found on the walls of these majestic caves. Now, a report says that a group of geologists has spotted a pattern that looks like an imprint of Dickinsonia.

The pattern on the wall of the Auditorium Cave seems to have been overlooked until now, The New York Times reported. Dickinsonia is a well-known fossil dating back 550 million years to the initial years of complex life on Earth.
