Group Captain Singh had reportedly suffered 90 per cent burn injuries and was on life support. He was an experimental test pilot and belonged to the Light Combat Aircraft ( LCA ) Squadron. He was conferred Shaurya Chakra, the third-highest peacetime gallantry award, on Independence Day this year by the President.
