AS many as 23 of 74 BJP MLAs in West Bengal, who were supposed to accompany the leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari for a meeting with Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar at Raj Bhavan did not turn up.
Sparking worries in the saffron camp, some of those who skipped the meeting are known for their close ties to Mukul Roy, who left the BJP and returned to the Trinamool Congress last week. According to sources, Adhikari had asked the 74 MLAs to accompany him to the Raj Bhavan.
“I came here with 50 MLAs to hold a meeting with the governor. I gave him a memorandum regarding post-poll violence in the state and other issues,’’ said Adhikari after the meeting.
