POLICE INVESTIGATION FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF FOUL PLAY
CARL EVE

A YACHT industry worker who had not been heard from for days was found dead in his home on the Barbican.

An inquest heard that police carried out inquiries into the death of 51-year-old Darren Hunt, which included forensic examination of his home in Notte Street, but found there was no suspicious circumstances or foul play.

Senior coroner, Ian Arrow, read out evidence gathered following the death of Mr Hunt, whose body was found by the building manager of the block of flats on January 3, 2021.

He noted how police were able to identify Mr Hunt - who it is believed to have been dead for a number of days before his discovery - from his distinctive tattoos.

The inquest heard that a postmortem examination by Home Office pathologist Dr Malcolm gave the cause of death as asphyxia.

He also noted that the level of alcohol in his blood was 166mg per 100ml, which Mr Arrow explained was "twice the drink-drive limit".
