If there is one opera music lovers should be grateful to see, it is Madam Butterfly.
The audience at the Theatre Royal Plymouth on Saturday evening were particularly lucky as the performance went ahead despite a severely Covid-depleted planned cast and following two years of uncertainty amid the pandemic for the Welsh National Opera. Yet there was no disappointment as the new production, which premiered last autumn, lived up to its critical acclaim and left the auditorium mesmerised.
