Mark made Freeman of the City

Former Royal Marine Mark Ormrod MBE has been awarded the title of Honorary Freeman of the City of Plymouth, after a unanimous decision at Monday’s full council meeting.

Councillors gave the ‘true hero and legend’ a standing ovation after voting unanimously in favour of granting him the honour, making Mark just the 45th individual or organisation to have been awarded Honorary Freedom of the City of Plymouth since 1917.

Mark said: “The only thing I want to say is to thank you. For the testimonials and for bestowing the honor on me. I have always stayed around because I love the city, people in the city, and I don’t think I will ever leave the city.
