A MAN who raped a woman has been spared jail.
Tom Williams has been handed a suspended prison sentence because he was only 17 at the time of the incident. Now aged 20, he admitted raping a woman at his home on December 7, 2018.
The victim said in a statement read to Plymouth Crown Court that she was still suffering flashbacks and was on medication.
The woman, who cannot be identified by law, said in her statement: “I have now moved on with my life and I am focused on each day as it comes and getting on with my life.”
Williams was arrested and interviewed the next day but not brought before a court until August last year. A judge told Williams that he too had suffered because of the delay – and not just the victim.
