Labour MP loses his job in Shadow Cabinet

LUKE Pollard, MP for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport, has been removed from the Shadow Cabinet as part of a Labour front-bench reshuffle.

Mr Pollard, who as environment spokesman had been asked by Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer to lead a revival of Labour's fortunes in rural areas, stepped back from the environment role in the summer to concentrate on supporting the Keyham district of his constituency, following the mass shootings there.

Although he moved back into the role as Shadow Secretary for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, he has now been replaced by Jim McMahon, the MP for Oldham West and Royton.
