PLYMOUTH Argyle captain Joe Edwards has admitted it will be ‘a massive moment’ for him to lead out his team-mates for the FA Cup clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The 31-year-old wants to see the Pilgrims put in a performance against their Premier League hosts which the Green Army and the players’ families can be proud of.
Argyle go into the FA Cup glamour tie buoyed by a first win in four games, the 3-1 League One victory away to Doncaster Rovers last Saturday, which kept them firmly in the running for a play-off place and raised spirits ahead of the Chelsea clash.
Edwards said: “I’m looking forward to it a lot more after Doncaster. It makes the week a lot easier and more enjoyable knowing that you have won in the league.
“We have put that to bed and can concentrate on this Chelsea game. It will be a great experience. Hopefully everyone really takes it in and enjoys it, and we can put in a good performance to be proud of.”
When asked about the prospect of leading out Argyle in front of a soldout Stamford Bridge, including 6,000 of the Green Army, Edwards replied: “It doesn’t get much better than that.
