JOHNSON ENDORSES ARGYLE APPOINTMENT
CHRIS ERRINGTON

STEVEN Schumacher has earned his stripes' and fully deserves his chance to be Plymouth Argyle manager, Sunderland boss Lee Johnson has declared.

Johnson saw his side beat the Pilgrims 2-1 at the Stadium of Light in League One action on Saturday in what was Schumacher's second game in charge.

The 37-year-old was appointed by Argyle after the sudden departure of Ryan Lowe, who took over at Preston North End and led them to a 2-1 home Championship win against Barnsley on Saturday.

Johnson was asked at the end of his post-match Press conference about what advice he would have for Schumacher.

He became a manager for the first time at the age of 31 and while still only 40 has gone on to take charge at Barnsley, Bristol City and now Sunderland.
