IT may or may not be the result of wishing upon a star, but Plymouth is looking forward to receiving an economic boost when the enormous Disney Magic cruise ship anchors off the city in 2022.
The 294 metres long vessel is due to stop in Plymouth Sound on September 30 at 7.30am for an 11-hour stay, proving dreams eventually do come true after its visit to Britain’s Ocean City was scuppered in 2021.
The vessel, which will carry 2,713 Mickey Mouse-loving passengers, is the second-largest of eight cruise ships due to make nine visits, bringing a total of 8,596 visitors to Plymouth this year.
Arrivals begin in April, with three scheduled visits starting on April 18 when Braemar, and its 986 passengers, pulls alongside at West Wharf, Millbay, at 7.30am for an 11-hour stop en route from Southampton to Falmouth.
Five days later, Ocean Nova, with 84 passengers aboard, will dock at Millbay’s Trinity Pier, with times of arrival and departure yet to be confirmed. However, the same boat is due back at the same berth on April 28.
