DOG-OWNING parkrunners disappointed by the ban on the use of special canicross belts are being invited to try the canine sport at a special taster event. The event organised by Devon Howlers at Newnham Park, Plympton on April 2 and 3, will also be helping the animals of war-torn Ukraine.
From next weekend anyone running with a dog at parkrun events across the UK must use a normal lead, not a waist belt with a bungee-type lead.
The move has left many canicross fans looking at alternative events where the full canicross kit of a dog harness, human waist belt and a long lead can be used.
One such event is organised by local group Devon Howlers who are inviting canicross runners, both novice and experienced, to try out a new course around the picturesque Newnham Park estate.
