THE funeral of former soldier Dennis Hutchings will be held in Plymouth next month, with his family 'grateful for the support of the city.
The 80-year-old, who lived in Cawsand, Cornwall, had been on trial over a fatal shooting during the Troubles in northern Ireland, but died in hospital part way through his case, shortly after contracting coronavirus.
Mr Hutchings had denied attempting to murder and cause grievous bodily harm to John Pat Cunningham.
Mr Cunningham, who was 27, was shot in the back as he ran from an Army patrol in a field near Benburb in 1974.
A funeral is to be held in St Andrew's Church in Plymouth on Thursday November 11, at 1pm.
The family has issued a statement through Plymouth Moor View MP Johnny Mercer, to say that all are welcome to the service, and there will also be a live streaming.
