Area ahead of the game on stopping drink spiking

DEVON and Cornwall are ‘ahead of the curve’ when it comes to preventing and tackling drink spiking, police say.

There has been concern on social media over incidents of spiking, with a case in Exeter of a woman who was assaulted with a needle in a nightclub.

Despite the case being the only one of its kind in Devon and Cornwall, cases elsewhere have led to a national online campaign calling for the boycotting of nightclubs, and a push for “tangible” changes to make women in particular feel safer.

However, Devon and Cornwall Police said there have been efforts to clamp down on the problem for several years.
