Mumbai Monorail, the feeder system to the Mumbai Metro, will soon get ten new rakes, with the first one coming in January 2023.
The tender was awarded to Medha Servo Drives Pvt. Ltd by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), which will cost Rs. 590 crores.
The new trains are lighter, faster, and stronger than the previous ones, thereby decreasing the load on the guideway and the piers. It will increase the capacity of the train, which is currently 560 passengers per train.
