THIS week we got the news that we have all been waiting for.

The first Covid-19 vaccine has been approved for use in the UK. It is now here and ready to be rolled out.

I’m hugely grateful to all the scientists around the world who have made this happen. They have worked non-stop – just like our frontline healthcare professionals – to put a halt to this virus and let us get on with life as normal.

All of those who volunteered for the vaccine trials deserve a huge thank you for helping to make this happen so swiftly. Without all of you, we would not be where we are today.

Developing a vaccine for coronavirus is a huge achievement.
