Sara, 51, was just months from retirement after 33 years of dedicated service when she became one of at least 21 NHS heroes who have died from Covid-19.

Heartbroken husband Gary paid tribute to her, as four more nurses and two porters were announced as yet more victims. And yesterday Sara’s friend Tracy Woods suggested she had been betrayed by a lack of kit. Tracy wrote: “Sara had to work with insufficient PPE, and contracted Covid-19. She fought this bravely for seven days until it became too much for her and she passed peacefully.”
