Cheating Matt Hancock last night quit as Health Secretary after a day of Tories putting the boot in.
And in an exchange of letters with Boris Johnson he apologised to his family and said: “I need to be with my children at this time.”
Mr Hancock finally bowed to the inevitable as his fellow Conservative MPs piled into him, despite the PM declaring the matter closed.
Mr Hancock was caught on CCTV kissing aide Gina Coladangelo in breach of Covid rules at the time. Their May 6 clinch came over a week before restrictions on indoor contact were eased.
As Ms Coladangelo also quit her Government role last night, Labour leader Keir Starmer said Mr Hancock was “right to resign, but Boris Johnson should have sacked him.”
