A WOMAN connected to a Tory peer’s son allegedly refused to cooperate with police quizzing her over an officer’s fatal shooting yesterday, while she waited for legal representation.

The body of Supt Henry Jemmott was found floating in the sea in Belize, on the eastern coast of Central America, with a gunshot wound behind his right ear.

Jasmine Hartin, partner of Lord Ashcroft’s son Andrew, was found on a pier nearby with what appeared to be blood on her arms and clothes.

Belize police commissioner Chester Williams said a postmortem would help determine whether the 42-year-old officer could have shot himself or been killed, either deliberately or by accident.

He said: ‘We have to keep an open mind in the investigation.
