I get a real kick out of being champion in this man's world

When she was kicked off her school team for being a girl, no one imagined she’d be the toast of youth football in the US four decades later.

Pamela McDonald was told she couldn’t play again for the all-boys line-up when the opposition protested about her inclusion. Scoring a hat-trick in a 7-1 thrashing may have had something to do with the complaint at full-time.

Now Pamela, 47, has created history by being the first woman to manage a boys’ high school team to a title victory in America.

The ex-Scotland women’s internationalist led Doral Academy, Miami, to being crowned Florida State Champions.

PE teacher Pamela said: “It’s been crazy since we won. I didn’t know I was the first

woman coach to win until after the match when newspapers and local TV wanted to do interviews.

“The culture over here is Latin and Latin men are the same as Scots – it is a man’s world.
