After The Pandemic.. Our Brave New World

Psychologists believe the Covid-19 crisis may have made us healthier, stronger and more sociable – despite social distancing.

Strathclyde University experts are investigating how the world could be better post-coronavirus with new positive behaviours developing among the population.

Senior psychology lecturer Dr Lynn Williams is examining lockdown’s benefits and ways to keep these improvements going after the pandemic.

About 2000 people have already signed up to take part in the study.

The Chief Scientist Office (CSO), funded by the taxpayer, has awarded the project team more than £88,000 to carry out the work.

Dr Williams said: “Social distancing has brought the biggest changes to everyday life in living memory.

“Although many of these changes make life worse, positive behaviours are emerging.

“For example, people are finding new ways to exercise at home and offering help to neighbours.
