NEW DELHI: India recorded a single-day rise of 70,421 new COVID-19 cases, the lowest in 74 days, taking the country’s infection tally to 2,95,10,410 out of which 2,81,62,947 people have recuperated from the disease while the count of active cases fell below 10 lakh after over two months, according to the Union Health ministry data updated on Monday.
Vaccine maker Novavax said on Monday its shot was highly effective against COVID-19 and also protected against variants in a large, late-stage study in the US and Mexico.
The vaccine was about 90 per cent effective overall and preliminary data showed it was safe, the company said.
