PM dials 7 CMs to know ‘situation’ in their states

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with the Chief Ministers of seven states over phone, here on Sunday, about “situation” in their states.

These Chief Ministers are Nitish Kumar (Bihar), Sarbananda Sonowal (Assam), YS Jagan Mohan Reddy (Andhra Pradesh), K Chandrasekhar Rao (Telangana), K Palaniswami (Tamil Nadu), Jai Ram Thakur (Himachal Pradesh) and Trivendra Singh Rawat (Uttarakhand).

According to sources, the Prime Minister, it’s believed, discussed about Coronavirus and its handling, flood situation and other issues with them. He also talked about state-specific concerns with them.

NEW DELHI: As India on Sunday reported nearly 39,000 fresh COVID-19 cases, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) raised the alarm of community spread in the country. With this rise, the total tally mounted to 10,77,618 and at this pace, it will cross 11 lakh mark on Monday.

Commenting on the huge rise in positive cases, Dr VK Monga, who is the Chairman of IMA’s Hospital Board of India, said, “This is now an exponential growth. Every day the number of cases is increasing by more than around 30,000. This is really a bad situation for the country.”
