MORE than six months have passed since the Rugby Football League and Super League announced discussions would begin over the goal of realigning British rugby league's two major governing bodies.
It was declared at the time that by the end of August, talks were hoped to have reached a positive conclusion and the realignment would be complete. Perhaps typically for rugby league, five months on from that initial deadline, there is still no end in sight. In fact only recently, Super League's interim chair, Ken Davy, conceded there was still some way to go.
The finer details of the realignment have been kept a closelyguarded secret - with clubs at all levels in the dark over not only what realignment means, but when the discussions will draw to a conclusion.
At a meeting before Christmas, clubs were told a successful conclusion was imminent, but as 2022 begins many are still unclear about what is happening and, indeed, the timeframes moving forward.
