Ex-Chancellor Sunak only Tory who can hold his head up high

I DOUBT if any former Chancellor of the Exchequer could have navigated the country through the Covid pandemic as well as, let alone better than, Rishi Sunak.

If any Tory can hold their head up with pride after the last two years it is him.

Therefore one has to ask why the Tories preferred Liz Truss and not him to be their prime minister.

During the campaign they had completely opposite visions in order to help people, businesses and the country through the current cost of living crisis and beyond.

The question is where does Liz Truss's sudden financial knowledge come from? Is it her vision or Kwasi Kwarteng's? The reaction of the financial markets to her mini budget has already negated her attempt to help house buyers by cutting stamp duty.

The repercussions of this mini budget for all but the rich will be devastating.

To those who cheered the removal of Boris Johnson as prime minister, the phrase be careful what you wish for seems appropriate.

Energy plan is deception

STARMER'S energy plan is a deception. It is not nationalisation of the whole industry for the public good but welfare for the rich. Via Starmer's government energy company plan, the industry will be able to externalise its social commitment and research and development costs onto the taxpayer.

While the industry internalises profits to management and shareholders, courtesy of our money.

This is money disproportionately harvested from middle and low groups, because thanks to New Labour we still have a Thatcherite tax system.

This scam has been practised before! Instead of demanding living wages from bosses, Gordon Brown subsidised poverty pay employers by adding Tax Credits to their payrolls. Instead of nationalising the banks that killed our economy, Tony Blair again gave them our money.

Blair is now an official of JP Morgan bank.
