Now, CCTV and bodycam clips of the moments before, during and after the attack have been released by Greater Manchester Police.
The first shows Chevelleau buying his weapon from a shop in Blackley.
He can be seen walking into the store at around 10.40am on the morning of the attack, before appearing to look at what different knives were available to buy.
The clip then shows him purchasing the offending weapon at the counter - a £1.50 knife.
CCTV footage then captures Chevelleau getting on a bus to Shudehill before walking over to the Arndale centre. He is captured making his way to the toilets inside, where he binned the knife packaging.
Footage then shows Chevelleau heading towards the main mall in the Arndale where he carried out his horrific attack.
