PRISON officers want gardai to police jails to protect staff facing “violent intimidation” from inmates.
They’ve now called for a meeting with Garda Commissioner Drew Harris to discuss threats and attacks by dangerous criminals against staff.
The Prison Officers Association said wardens are constantly being threatened by locked up thugs and gang members and want the gardai to help try and stop it.
Reports include incidences of violent inmates threatening that officers’ loved one will be raped or killed.
