Gangland bosses can be jailed for up to five years for the new crime of “grooming” kids to do their dirty work.
The move is part of Justice Minister Helen McEntee’s pledge to crack down on the use of children on the frontline.
The country was shocked a year ago when a 17-year-old boy, who we are unable to name for legal reasons, was found murdered after getting caught up in gangland activity.
Ms McEntee’s new laws will help put behind bars those who try and bring young people into their grim world.
