State bank call to halt Big Two

POLITICIANS are calling for a new State bank to stop the Big Two gobbling up the loans of companies exiting the market.

The demand came as KBC Ireland announced yesterday it was quitting Ireland, which could make AIB and Bank of Ireland’s positions ever more dominant.

KBC has promised there will be no immediate redundancies and loan protections will remain in place when they are sold.
