NEVER-before-seen photos from a soldier documenting the 1920s have come to light a century later.

The album includes an image of revolutionary fighter Thomas Whelan facing a firing squad in Dublin.

He was one of six men executed at Mountjoy Prison in 1921 for murdering army prosecutor Captain Baggallay, who sentenced Volunteers to death.
