Met Eireann’s Yellow weather alert is issued for 14 counties

Grab the brollies as a heavy rain warning is set to come into effect tonight for 14 counties.

Met Eireann said the 24-hour alert kicks in at midnight with all of Munster and Connacht as well as Carlow, Kilkenny and Wexford under a Status Yellow warning.

An alert on the forecaster’s website said: “There will be heavy rain tonight and Tuesday coupled with strong southerly winds.

“Some river and localised surface flooding is possible.

“Expect rainfall totals of 30mm to 50mm or higher in mountainous regions.”

Before the deluge, many people can expect lots of dry and bright conditions with sunny spells across Ireland today.
