RAFA BENITEZ is winning over Everton’s fans because he claims they love the team’s fighting spirit under him.

Benitez believes the supporters were unhappy with the team’s style last season under his predecessor Carlo Ancelotti when Everton finished a disappointing 10th after a bright start.

They are just two points behind leaders Chelsea and Benitez claims the supporters are enjoying watching their team again.

Some fans opposed Benitez’s appointment because he called Everton a “small club” after a 2007 Merseyside derby when he was Liverpool boss.
