Pandemic Hell For Minimum Wage Workers

Minimum wage workers have been “disproportionately impacted” in the pandemic compared to our European neighbours, new research revealed.

A report by the Economic and Social Research Institute found Ireland has the second-highest minimum wage rate after Luxembourg at €10.20 per hour, but when cost of living is factored in, we dropped to seventh.

Around 43% of such staff were employed in accommodation, food, wholesale or retail in Ireland, which is higher than any of the other countries studied.
