Conor McgGregor has claimed he retired from the UFC last year because he felt he had been “shelved” by the promotion.

The Dubliner made a fast start to 2020 with a 40-second victory over Donald Cerrone but then saw his plans thwarted by the coronavirus pandemic.

And in June he took to social media to announce he was hanging up his gloves for the third time in four years.

But he agreed on a return and will take on Dustin Poirier this weekend in their rematch at UFC 257 which takes place at the Etihad Arena on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.
