From amputated feet to missing out on Suicide Squad, film board gets just 9 complaints in 2 years

A FOOT amputation scene and a ban on a child going to see The Suicide Squad were among the criticisms received by the Irish movie censor last year.

However, the number of complaints to the Irish Film Classification Office tumbled with cinemas forced to close for long periods due to Covid-19 restrictions.

Figures reveal that while 20 formal complaints were lodged in 2019, there have been just nine since then, including only three last year.

One parent wrote of how they felt “irresponsible” after bringing their 12-year-old son and nine-year-old daughter to see the film, Free Guy.
